Digital: LVDS Cabling
There are various digital standards, but before the advent of CameraLink™ and FireWire™, the most common method of digital data transfer was LVDS. Unfortunately this did not provide for any standard connectors or cabling. Firstsight Vision are able to supply a range of baspoke cabling solutions for most camera to framegrabber combinations.

LVDS Connection

Although most new high speed digital cameras use the new CameraLink™ interface there are still many cameras that use LVDS. With LVDS there is no set standard, so every camera and framegrabber can have different connectors which necessitates a custom cable every time! To make things worse, with LVDS digital cables, the vast quantity of wires needed mean that often the connectors are very small and difficult to solder. For instance a simple 8 bit area scan camera may have 22 signal wires plus shielding and ground, and an advanced camera such as the CT-F3 from DALSA has 136 wires.

Firstsight Vision offer cable solutions for the vast majority of our Digital camera/framegrabber combinations which are fully tested and built using the correct tooling to ensure high quality interconnects. In addition, the cables can optionally be upgraded to full hi-flex robotic grade cable. Some of the more common combinations and lengths are held in stock while others can usually be provided in 2 to 4 weeks.
