The
PP600 IO controller provides repeatable intensity control of
LED lighting for machine vision applications. It includes the
power supply, intensity control, timing and triggering functions
required for machine vision systems.
LED lighting needs a constant current
supply as small variations in voltage can
cause large variations in light output. Currents can be specified
in 0.25mA steps
below 1A and in 2.5mA steps above 1A.
Features
Two
Channel, 4A LED PSU
Easy Push-Button Set Up
Non-Volatile Standalone Operation
Strobed/Continuous Output
Optional RS232 Control
System Functions
In
continuous mode the output can be fixed or can be selected from
up to four values using one or both digital inputs. In pulsed
mode one input is used as a trigger; the delay and pulse duration
can range from 20us to 1 second in 20us or
2ms steps. The unit can handle LED's with a forward voltage
up to 60V.
The PP600 is set up using four push buttons
and a four digit display. Configurations are saved in non-volatile
memory so that the PP600 will resume operation after a power
cycle. Applications include lighting systems requiring changes
in lighting intensity, easy and repeatable set up of lighting
levels, strobe control of lighting and synchronising lighting
switching to camera syncs.
Two modes
of operation are provided separately for each channel:
Continuous:
Output is a continuous
current.
Strobed:
Output is pulsed once
per trigger.

*NEW* The
PP600F - Fast Switching Lighting Controller
The PP600
was originally designed to offer a wide range of functionality.
This flexibility came at a price and some customers required
a faster switching specification that was available. The
new F version limits some of the maximum timing ranges
in return for a far faster switching time. The F version
is aimed at applications with very fast moving parts or
where lighting switch times can effect the inspection
results.
Accessories
A range of accessories
are available for the PP600 range
PP711 Heatsink Kit
PP721 PC Drive Bay Mounting
Kit
The PP711
is a heatsink kit for the PP600, and provides a dual,
low voltage fan-cooled heatsink, complete wit mounting
screws for the PP600 and tinned flying leads for the power
supply. Full instructions are also provided. The PP711
allows the PP600 series to generate high output currents,
with the ability to dissipate up to 30W of heat compared
to 10W as standard.
The PP721
PC Drive Bay Mounting Kit allows the PP600 range to be
mounted in a standard 5.25" drive bay. This is particularly
useful where space is at a premium, or where there is
no separate electrical cabinet to hand. The PP600 is mounted
in a sliding tray for easy maintenance and access to the
unit controls. The package includes the 5.25" mounting
frame, sliding tray and all fixing screws.
PP701 DIN
Rail Mounting Kit
The PP701
provides a solution to mounting the PP600 series to a
standard DIN rail setup, common in many industrial installations.
The kit consists of two small clips and a set of fixing
screws. Installation takes less than 2 minutes.
